Highly anticipated Evangelion has already hit the theaters of Japan, igniting a whole bunch of fans (as much as 800 fans) standing in line patiently for the first screenings. Well, with the 2nd Evangelion movie done and over with for some of the people, a 3rd movie will be on their list very soon.
Titled as Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Q quickening, the third movie has yet to receive an English title. The reason for the weird naming is because of an idea that the director wants to go through with. The first movie was named Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Jo, while the second movie was named Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha.
Basically, the idea to follow a specific set of classic movement, which is Jo-Ha-Kyū, which is translated Introduction-Exposition-Climax. By following this idea, the third movie is named Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Q quickening, with the “Q” representing Kyū.
However, as many would have known, the theatrical remakes of Evangelion is actually separated into 4 parts. That means that there’s an undisclosed title at the last installation of the theatrical remakes. Judging by this pattern, I’m sure some of those people who are well-versed in Japanese is able to somewhat formulate the last movie’s title.
The popularity of Evangelion had led to quite a number of tie-in for the second movie. One of the most popular ones is probably the NERV only phone, which had seen pre-orders rocketing through the roof. Who knows, the popularity of such phone may convince the makers to produce more of such phones!
For those who are interested in Evangelion outside Japan, FUNimation is actually bringing Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone to North American homes and theatres. I guess those people in NA can rejoice now!
