Anime Festival Asia 2009: The Second Day

DSC_0008

Ahem. Gimme a second or two while I finish looping this “Dynamite Explosion“.

The second day of AFA09 has come to a close, along with the whole event itself. However, while the event is over now, the spirit of AFA09 is still with everyone else who has attended the event!

Once again, props to IFreedom for the photos!

AFA09: The Second Day:

The second day started out in the same fashion as how the first day is like. The moment I’ve arrived at the event, the ticketing booth was still having long queues, much to my surprise. Entry was a breeze however, seeing that there isn’t anymore long queues like the one I’ve experienced yesterday.

Here’s some more images that was retaken at Danny’s booth.

The day wasn’t exactly as packed as the first day, seeing that everyone who had attended the first day would probably know the whole event itself inside it by the second day. The second day promises some pretty epic events though, such as the appearance of K-ON’s seiyuus for live dubbing, and the continuation of I Love Anisong, which promises to bring the two Macross singers together in one epic event.

I’ll skip the details for the second day on this post for now, seeing that I have yet another combined post for both days in the a day or two, but as of now, I’ll briefly run through the activities of the second day.

Due to the fact that no photography of the K-ON! session was allowed, here’s some BRS!

K-ON! Live Session:

First and foremost, the K-ON! Live Dubbing session. This is probably the most well-received main stage event, asides from the I Love Anisong concert. The seats were filled up as soon as 10am when the event was scheduled for 1.15pm. All the K-ON seiyuus had made an appearance, save for Mio’s seiyuu. Not sure why, since they never really did explain why didn’t Mio’s seiyuu come to Singapore. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed so you guys will have to bear with the wall of text.

Nonetheless, it was an epic event to say the least. After the almost flawless dubbing of 3 scenes (they had a little mis-sync somewhere), the QnA session was probably the most anticipated one for the whole event. A total of 5 questions were asked, each ranging from “How do you relate yourself to the character you voice” to “Please tell us the favourite line of your character“. Co-hosted by blogger Danny Choo, that event was pretty awesome.

Not only that, 4 lucky winners (no, I didn’t win anything because I don’t got no seats…) was announced by their seat numbers to receive a specially signed whiteboard by all 4 of the seiyuu present. That’s probably why people had grabbed seats that early…

Kaname gives some advices.

Moving on, there were several appearance by world-renowned cosplayer, Kaname as he appears around AFA09 with a variety of costumes like FF7. He had also given a talk about cosplaying for him, as well as advices for others who might be cosplaying.

AFA09: I Love Anisong Part 2: Macross Duo

However, the most epic event in the whole of AFA09 just has got to be the second part of I Love Anisong. Unlike the first, which was rather delayed since entry was only granted at 7pm, the second part allowed entry as early as 6.15pm, and everything was done and ready by 6.30pm. The first artiste to take the stage was Yoshiki Fukuyama, a member of JAM Project and I can safely say that it was probably one of the best artiste to had ever graced AFA09. The concert had also observed a no photography rule, so you probably get the idea.

The first day’s Ichirou Mizuki was awesome, but Yoshiki simply blew everyone away with his mix of energy and acoustic guitar skills. No joke about that. May’n joined in shortly after with a barrage of new songs, as well as her all-famous Macross Frontier songs. Finally, the event ended with the duo having a collaboration of some sort, as both of them played a famous song from both Macross Frontier and Macross 7 each.

ANIKI!!

The AFA09 management have seemingly learned something from the first concert too. One of the primary reason why the first concert was a little dull in comparison to the second one is because the general public had no way to join in the fun as the paid people had. Light sticks, for example, is quite an important thing to have during the concert. However, during the first day, barely anyone in the regular area had light sticks, and in the second day, light sticks were literally distributed everywhere by tossing them into the air for the public to catch them. Pretty awesome if you ask me!

If having more than half the audience waving their light sticks for a whole 2 hours doesn’t tell something to you, then it’s… well, there are no thens or not. It’s just simply epic.

Also, keep a lookout for a compilation of the both days post in a day or two! Gotta organize all the hundreds upon hundreds of photos properly first!
