Dangerous zone there.
After Infinity Ward’s decision to remove dedicated servers from Modern Warfare 2, it seems that the PC gaming community is getting paranoid as they fear that future games would not be included with the dedicated server functions.
Alien versus Predator 3, one of the upcoming game for the AvP series had received quite a sizable amount of attention because of the series’s popularity, as well as the great 3 race perspective that it provides in the previous game, called Alien versus Predator 2.
However, during an interview conducted by CVG, the developing studio Rebellion had dodged the question if they would include dedicated servers as a feature in AvP3 several times. This led to quite a bit of speculations, as many PC gamers thinks that other studios might be following in IW’s footsteps by leaving out the ability of creating dedicated servers, and to gradually change the online PC gaming to the one of which consoles are using.
But in a recent exchange with GamesIndustry.biz, it is revealed that the game will indeed be shipped with dedicated servers as a function, placing many gamers to a calm state as they know that there will be one game which will allow them to do whatever they like in their own customized server.
Despite rumours, Rebellion has always been planning to support dedicated servers for Aliens vs Predator PC and we can now officially confirm that this is the case. Rebellion has always appreciated fan support. We’re really looking forward to the release of Aliens vs Predator as much as you guys are!
Come to think of it though, since when did dedicated server become a “considerable” thing in any PC games now? I mean, c’mon, it has been a standard for all multiplayer enabled PC games in the market, seeing that all such games should give players freedoms to do what they wish on their own hosted games, right?
