Yet again, K-ON! tops Oricon’s charts for amount of sales. Not surprising though, since K-ON’s popularity is undeniable. The three newest albums featuring Azusa, Ritsu and Mugi had apparently taken the chart by storm (again) and had secured themselves #3, #5 and #6 respectively. They had sold a total of 28,000, 26,000, and 25,000 copies respectively.
Making yet another record, this is the first time where all the three releases credited to fictional characters from the same anime had debuted in Oricon’s weekly top-1o charts together. Quite a feat if you ask me.
Not only that, the previous albums that was released had been extremely well-received, such as K-ON’s OP, seeing that it had sold over a million copies since it’s debut at April. The other album, “Hōkago Teatime,” a two-CD mini-album “performed” by the characters from K-ON! had apparently reached the first place in Oricon’s Weekly and Single charts, making it the first and only album to make it to the top that contains fictitious characters.
Adding more success to the huge collection of successes that K-ON has garner thus far is the sales volume of Yui’s and Mio’s album as all the above mentioned albums had surpassed Lucky Star’s sales volume during the first week.
The next upcoming big album, K-ON! Official Band Yaro yo!, might be the next album in K-ON’s incredible line up of albums to reach the top. Offering a metric ton of goodies, there’s no way that K-ON! fans wouldn’t get this album. Heck, even non-K-ON! fans might just pick the album up because of the score sheets. Upcoming next, the review on the albums!
