Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie Getting A Re-write

I’ve always gotten confused over which gender this person is…

The live action movie for Cowboy Bebop has recently announced that it’s currently in it’s draft stages as it has been subjected to a rewrite of the entire script.

Why the rewrite? Many would assume that a live action movie of Cowboy Bebop would suck, but it seems that it’s not the case. The rewrite happened because the script was so good that it has to have about half a billion worth of funds before it can start.

While on the subject of Cowboy Bebop, actor Keanu Reeves had mentioned that the producers are trying to pull the movie back into scope, making sure that nothing goes out of the what it’s supposed to be, and the only challenge that they are facing now is to make a satisfying western narrative.

Of course, everyone knows how badly done Dragonball Evolution was in comparison to the original Dragonball, so a live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop would naturally gather some sort of hate here and there. However, looking at the fact that they are actually make sure that nothing goes out of the ordinary might actually mean that this movie would be done nicely to appeal to both new and old fans.

According to the actor Keanu Reeves, the whole cast of Cowboy Bebop will be featured in the live-action movie too, although actors for the respective roles aren’t finalized yet.

Everyone’s right the DBE it is far different from the original anime. But Cowboy Bebop, oh, this should better be good. Although I’ve seen an image of Keanu portraying Spike (well, I don’t know if that’s for real) but, I think the hair was short on the front side, it makes him look a little bald (I don’t know if everyone would agree, that’s just my opinion on the image.). I really hope that this was just a photoshopped image.

DBE sucked because there was only a certain level of “good” it had any chance of reaching, and the makers were clueless. At best, it would have been a mindless, funny romp like the original was, but the people involved in its creation had no idea what its original high points were, and thus discarded the majority of them.

Bebop live action has a considerably higher potential, with way more rounded characters, a much more richly complex setting, and a plethora of excellent stories to adapt and/or borrow from and/or inspire. As long as the Bebop movie remains loyal to the formula that made it as popular as it is, it’ll do fine. Wicked but sparse action, strong characterization, a bit of setting-induced wackiness here and there, and most importantly, Yoko Kanno.

And Vicious. Got to have Vicious.

Dragonball Evolution sucked because…..well….let’s face it, it was shitty in pretty much every way possible. HOWEVER.

I think that a Cowboy Bebop movie would be a lot easier to make similar to the anime without having to change much. You have Spike, and the crew. You have the Bebop. You have them go catch a bounty. How can anyone really fuck that up. As long as the cast is decent (and I like Keanu Reeves here, I think he’ll surprise a lot of people), then you should have a movie that is at LEAST decent. It can’t be worse then the Dragonball movie, which I couldn’t even get half way through.
