Longer as in the amount of game play players would be entitled to. No no, we’re not referring to that ridiculous 6 hours 2-stages plus linear level. Apparently, Final Fantasy 13 could’ve been a lot longer, as Square Enix had revealed that there was enough deleted content in FF13 to make a whole new game!
FFXIII art director Isamu Kamikokuryou had an interview with a magazine recently, and FF Reunion has a summary of the interview. The interview reveals a number of rather interesting information with regards to the game itself. In the particular interview, Kamikokuryou focuses on some of the contents that were deleted from the game.
As many loyal FF13 would know, many locations of the game were shown before the release of the game, and some of these locations were removed from final product. According to Kamikokuryou, there’s enough deleted content in the process of FF13 to make a whole new game!
Some of these deleted locations includes a full area surrounding Lightning’s house, a secret resistance base somewhere inside a shop and even the amusement park had a zoo at one point during the design of the levels.
One thing to note is that the deleted content were completed in a sense, and had seen tests on the PS3 before the release of the game. However, due to game volume and game balance considerations, Square Enix had decided not to add the levels into the game. Pity, seeing that these deleted content might just make FF13 a better than it is now…
