Final Fantasy XIII’s Commercial Is As Funny As It’s Ridiculous

And there’s Lightning’s perfume too.

Commercials are an excellent way for anyone to get any point across. Want to promote the greatness of this product? Want to generate more hype for your game?

However, with FF13’s release date just around the corner, it seems that Sony and Square Enix are stepping up on their commercial efforts as they continue to increase the hype of FF13 (even though it’s going to be a major hit regardless).

Are you in need of health? Perhaps you’ve gotten damaged by some unknown flying object that happens to smash into your forehead, but yet nothing happens to you? Then it’s time for you to grab an Elixir, the upcoming beverage tie-in for FF13. Not sure what the Elixir is supposed to do, but I guess we can safely assume that it will recover your health.

There’s also the FF13-based perfume if you’re interested. No idea if it will actually smell like Lightning (seeing that it’s named as “Lightning eau de toilet”), but it’s described to have a sweet peach smell followed by rose and then a feminine musk.

Other than that ridiculous commercial about how two cars would crash on your forehead and you have yet to die (i remember Final Fantasy’s max amount of health as 9999, no idea how they reached 23k damage…) there are several other commercials, but these are just commercials to increase the hype of the game. Now, if you’re in Japan, you’ll probably realize that there’s actually a “behind-the-scene” spot for FF13 coming soon. Basically what this commercial tells us is that “you should tune in to this particular cable channel and watch the… um, documentary commercial” or something like that. The program is roughly called “Closing into the FF13 World” and is hosted by the voice actor of Sazh.

If you’ve yet to notice the Japanese release date for the PS3… yes, it is on the 17th of December this year. Pretty soon, don’t you agree?
