Give your Firefox a little dress up!

foxkeh_kemari_small

Have you ever thought that the Firefox browser looks a little too plain? Maybe an addition of something else would brighten up the surfing process? Well, the folks are Mozilla thought up of the same thing.

Just recently, they introduced some called the Personas for Mozilla Firefox.

What’s it about? Of course something cool!

Coming with a quote of,

What will your browser wear today?

and a ton of clothing hangar accompanying with it, this is Personas for Firefox.

Personas are not exactly the Personas that you’re looking at. No, we won’t get fanciful monsters that will go around helping us slapping monsters, doesn’t work that way unless you’re in a MMORPG.

Setting this aside, Xbox 360 owners should know that there’s a customization that they could do to their Xbox 360, and that’s the faceplate. Taking that idea, and integrate it into a PC, then into a popular software that more than 50% of the world uses, and you’ll get Personas for Firefox.

Persona in Action.

Basically, Personas for Firefox will allow you to customize your header and footer in the browser. That means that you can have a customize feel to the browser you’re using. Although there isn’t much to customize (mainly because of header and footer), some user may feel very limited. But fear not, once a change is applied, it gives off a feeling that you’re using your own browser, not any others!

To get started, all you need is to install the Persona software on your browser, which is easily achieved by visiting the site and pressing “Get Persona for Firefox“. Firefox will take care of the rest.

After installation, you’ll gain access to over thousands of themes on the gallery. While not all will suits user’s tastes, the folks are Mozilla has decide to allow everyone access to make their own themes. I reckon that there will be multiple themes out there soon enough. Especially the anime section!

I should give a try in it too!

Some choices you can make.

After installation, the footer will feature the Foxkeh (mascot of Firefox) icon. Using this icon, you can make some limited changes, and it’ll inform what is the current theme, what are the latest themes, or you can browse through a sorted list. It’s easier that way than visiting the gallery itself.

But best of all? It’s free.

This reminds me of Neoplanet, another now-dead browser that used the same engine as IE. That one combined both themes and personas. Looks cute tho, albeit distracting…

My browser is a complete mess, but I’ll try it! I’ll try to make a theme that will ‘fit’ my browser! ^_^
