Studying is tough, we all know that. That’s why, during a survey done by Tokyo-based Benesse Educational Research and Development Center had found that more than half of the responding elementary school students, junior high and high school students had said that their lives are simply moving way too fast for them.
During the survey that was conducted on November last year, it was revealed that about 49% of elementary students said that they get tired easily in school. Junior High racks in about 59%, while High School racks in about 64%. Not surprise, considering how competitive Japan is in their own educational system. Even their own preschoolers are experiencing the so-called “Examination Hell” soon.
While students have generally hectic lives, it seems that an average fifth grader is able to clock a healthy amount of sleep, although the numbers of hours they get per day seems to dwindle as they move up the educational system, with about 6 hours plus when they reach 2nd year in High School.
The survey had also found out that elementary students tend to use their mobile phones at an average of two minutes per day, and high school students tend to clock about 76 minutes per day.

While Japan students usually have a hectic life, it does seem to an effect on the increasing amount of NEETs.
On the other hand, I’m sure those who are studying in Singapore are expecting the same thing. Schools can start as early as 6am, and end at late as 7pm. Tough life students have these days.
