Puni, puni!

Anyone familiar with Japan is definitely no stranger to the news of females getting groped aboard trains and public transportation.

In an effort to lower the amount of such cases, the Saitama Prefecture had recently launched a new kind of police force that is entirely dedicated to one role: catching of such gropers on trains and other form of public transportation.

Currently standing at about 150 men strong with a majority of the force consisting of women, the activities of the “Elimination of Molestation Patrol” consists of handing out fliers to the general public to warn them about the potential dangers, as well as patrolling around several areas in an effort to catch these gropers.

While people might question the practicability of such a force, it seems that the newly formed police force has been rather successful. Right on the day that it was launched, one plain-clothed officer had successful caught a man groping a high school student aboard a train. The officer had apparently worked her way through the crowd to the girl, and had used her cellphone to communicate with the girl. This is to confirm if the girl was really molested in any way and the man was later arrested for molestation.

So, what do you think of such a police force? It’s rather unique that they used cellphones to communicate to the victim by typing message on cellphone and showing it to the victim to confirm the case…
