What a Shiraishi look-a-like.
I’ve never knew that such books actually existed. I’m rather interested in what these books are. Maybe it’s just doesn’t exist altogether!
Episode 3 shows us how Yui deals with her mid-terms, which is, more or less halfway through the school year already. To think that almost 6 months went past in just 2 episodes! Time really flies.
And here we are, K-ON! presents us with the mid-term examinations that the girls have to face.
Of course, things doesn’t go smooth sailing for our beloved daydreamer Yui, who doesn’t actually study for any tests since middle school.
I’ve done worse. Don’t worry.
What turns out is that she has completely failed her maths test for her mid-terms, and she’ll need to make sure that she passes on the make-up test, lest that she’ll be suspended from all club activities, and leaving the Light Music Club with one member less, which will lead to the eventual suspension of the club.
With that in mind, Yui decides to make sure that she passes the make-up test. After all, she just bought her new guitar, and to get the club suspended is something she definitely does not want!
With only one week till the make-up exams, Yui sets out to study and learn as much as she can before the date arrives. However, distraction is one tough enemy to handle, especially without the help of others.
Reminds me of Akio and Tomoya.
Days passed, and Yui hasn’t been studying, due to various distractions that was around her, and she often goofed off to “practice” with her guitar, although neither activity had returned any good results.
With one more day left, Yui decides to ask Mio-sensei for help. Deciding to go to Yui’s house to tutor Yui on her maths (algebra especially). Yui’s younger sister — called Ui — also makes another appearance, and impresses the trio with her maturity in comparison to Yui. It turns out the Ui is only one year younger than Yui!
A little chat ensues, where Ui states that she wants to enter the same school as her sister does, and Mio suggests that Yui should teach Ui if she does get into the same school, but… you know, it’s really impossible!
BONK!
After several worth of serious studying with Ritsu out of the picture, and some of Tsumugi’s cakes, the girls calls it a day, and wishes Yui luck on her make-up test, as the fate of the club lies on her shoulders!
Several days after the make-up test, an aghast Yui walks into the club room, with an ace in her hands. Of course, things aren’t as simple as they would have thought, as Yui has completely forgotten about the chords, and only remembers x and y from the algebra.
School has plenty of fun and all. You meet friends, fool around with them, join up with a club and make even more friends, but everything with a pro will definitely come and with a con.
And of course, that con is homework and examinations. Homework is still doable, but examinations? I really wonder about that.
Damn, I hate solving equations.
Of course, everyone dreads about the examination period, especially the ones (like me) that doesn’t study at all. Examinations are like the bane of every single student! And more specifically, I wonder why does the characters in the animes I’ve watched thus far has problem with maths…
Of course, I hate maths. Maths is probably the one subject that I hate. I can’t express my hate for maths enough. Doing algebra is also probably the worst thing ever. I remember myself being stuck at algebra for a good half a year when trying to learn new topics. Man, that was horrible.
Most of animes that has examinations involved doesn’t have much impact in the whole show, with most characters despairing for awhile, and the incident forgotten. This is indeed unique.
However, I’ve noted, most of the exams in animes are… rather short. Since there’s like only one test? It can’t be! And this one test is mostly maths!
On another note, it is me, or almost every single maths question that has ever been shown in manga/animes are mostly algebra related? Algebra must have been rather impactful.
Mugi, you’re good.
I’m still rather amazed at how fast Yui can be motivated by food. I wished I can be as motivated as she is when she is presented with food… *sighs*
On the other hand, it seems that Yui’s younger sister, Ui is actually quite a matured sister. I was already thinking of them on the second episode, when Yui asked Ui for some money. It seems that Yui really depends on Ui a lot!
But that won’t sway me away from Yui! She has the Tsukasa-trait in her!
And now, the screencaps:
Get those plasters ready!
Awww, Mio.
Puni, puni!
Apparently, opening the middle of the book will bring you to whatever page you want.
This reminds me a lot about Lucky Star and Haruhi…
You know, I often wonder if tests are really 1 paper in High Schools…
Yui looks down on Ritsu.
Sudden revealations.
Yui’s an integrated part of their lives now!
Yui tries to study algebra…
…but fails.
The trio decides to give some encouragement to Yui…
…but ends up distracting her instead.
Yui teaching… Ui? I can only imagine.
The rolling around the bed thing is really popular in this episode.
Lol @ Expression.
With all the talk and snacks, they forgot about studying.
How much liquid can that little pot hold?
And apparently, all the effort paid off! Thinking back, it seems that the only subject that you can get 100/100 is probably maths. The rest? Kind of difficult.
And oh, I would really want to know what are these concentration books about. They look… kind of INTERESTING.
