It has been ages since we’ve last heard about Zone of The Enders from Kojima, and he thinks that it’s time that he announces something about it.

Recently posted by Kojima himself, he talks about Zone of The Enders 2, a Playstation 2 game which he had worked on sometime ago. While Kojima Productions are more or less fully focused on making Metal Gear games (they are famous for that anyway), it seems that Kojima still remembers the 6 years old game which is still extremely well received by people to this day.

He mentioned that Zone of The Enders 2 was actually a pretty well received game by a good amount of people to this day, but there was several problems with Zone of The Enders 2 that resulted it in not being as popular as the Metal Gear series. Errors in the release time frame, as the date that ZoE2 was released had seen a good amount of major hits coming out too. This resulted in medium sales, and because of that, the development of the series wasn’t continued at all.

Kojima had admitted that it was his fault, simply because if he haven’t miscalculated the release time frame, the series would have done a lot better than how it was received when it was released. If the game was actually well received at first, Anubis (the name for ZoE in Japan) would have been the next title to be developed as a series after MGS.

However, there are plans for a Anubis revival, somewhat. Kojima had said that his team would like to make a sequel for the series at some point of time, although he can’t be sure when it will happen. He is certain, however, that once they are working on a sequel, they will make Anubis a success. Kojima had also said that he already has game plan and sales method in his head already.

It’s good to hear that a game developer would recognize his own mistakes, since it’s not every time where people would openly say that it’s their fault when something happened.

What do you think of a sequel for Zone of The Enders? I’ve played the game a few times and I think the UI interface for the game is pretty cool. While I’m not exactly a mecha fan, ZoE is actually a pretty decent game… well, except for that ADA AI that keeps saying “we will cease battle position” every time you disengage.
