Unlike a certain game developing company, Kojima takes his game’s release dates seriously, going as far as calling it a “crime” for any game developer to delay the release of a game.
So many would have known by now, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker’s release date has been pushed back all the way by a good one month due to several fine-tuning reasons. While the rest of the team seems happy enough for such a reason, Kojima begs to differ.
Posting on the Kojima Production blog, Kojima writes that he is more than sorry regarding the delay.
“I always preach to the staff, ‘You must not have a delay after a release date has been announced. There is no greater crime as a game developer.’”
“Official announcement of a release date is nothing less than a promise to fans and business partners. In other words, a release date change is like betraying the expectations of everyone.”
He closed off his post stating that it would take a long time to earn back the trust of everybody and will continue to work hard until one day everyone trusts them again. Which is really strange, as I really doubt anyone would hate of distrust Kojima Production for just one single game delay!
Peace Walker has been delayed in Japan for a month, but the US version seems to be unaffected as the game is still set on a May release.
If only that game developing company would actually stick to their release dates like Kojima-san here…
