I’m sure Hollywood wants a piece of the huge pie in the Asian Market, but it certainly didn’t do a good job in doing so.
I’m sure everyone here knows that there had a recent adaptation of the Dragonball Manga into a Live Action Movie, and it was totally horrible as what I’ve heard. I didn’t go watch it, since the trailer wasn’t interesting enough to attract me to it. Wasn’t trailers supposed to “hype” you up a little before you watch it? Hmm.
Hollywood has at least 2 more of such things planned, which doesn’t exactly bode well for several anime fans out there.
The cast wouldn’t be fitting, if you ask me. While the cast doesn’t even fit, the reporters doesn’t even report the sypnosis of the show well!
Extracted from here:
The property derives from writer Shoji Gatoh’s series about a teenage anti-terrorist commando named Sousuke Sagara who is given the mission to protect a high-school girl with mystical powers.
“Panic,” which is set in a world almost exclusively without adults, is known for mixing visceral action with wry comedy.
“A world almost exclusively without adults”… okay, I’m sure that’s correct.
Fans expressed their rage through several amusing methods too. There’s a rating system… where the whole article gets probably 1 or 2 stars. If there’s a 0.5 star, I would probably vote for that.
However, I shouldn’t be too quick to pass judgement though. For all you know, FMP (live action) may shine from it’s CG part, since there will be plenty of Mecha elements in it. CG should be Hollywood’s forte, isn’t it?
I didn’t follow Cowboy Beebop much… so I can’t say. I do know that they have guns!
But then again… having a non-asian cast on the live action show is still plenty weird. I would rather make something to applease fans than make them rage all day long.
