Live-Action Cowboy Bebop Too Expensive To Make, Currently On Status Unknown

The movie could be on hold for sometime!

Announced last year, Cowboy Bebop was slated to be adapted into a live-action movie but had met with budget cost limits, and had to be rewritten. Almost a year after this incident, actor Keanu Reeves had mentioned the same thing with a recent interview with Collider.

I haven’t heard anything back. They turned in the script and it was very expensive. I don’t know if they’re going to…it would cost, like, half a billion dollars to make that script. So, I don’t know where it’s at right now.

Back in September 2009, Keanu Reeves was asked about the Cowboy Bebop movie, and same the response was given. The cost of the movie is 500 million and that’s probably too much for any company to bear. Some fans speculates that the whole ridiculous price-tag is just an excuse for them “legitimately” drop the project because of “costs involved”, while others believes that it’s impossible for Cowboy Bebop to require this sum of money, arguing that Transformers with all it’s flashy effects only took 200 million to create.

Well… there’s also the people who would see the entire project scrapped too. Goes without saying, since the disastrous effects of Legend of Chun-Li and Dragon Ball? Most people would rather movie makers don’t spend that kind of money making ridiculous movies!
