Yes, it’s Love Plus in the arcades…
Sure, Love Plus might be a good game to play with, but with the whole girlfriend theme around it, it’s kind of hard to imagine people sharing their “girlfriends” with others, much less showing passerby their virtual girlfriends, right? However, Konami’s all-time favourite girlfriend simulation is set to be appearing in arcades very soon and truth be told, that’s an extremely weird platform for Love Plus to go in.
The announcement of Love Plus Arcade came when series producer Akari Uchida mentions of it on his twitter. He mentions that Love Plus Arcade (a tentative name) will be available (on the 24th and 25th) through several locations in Akihabara for people to playtest.
Not much information regarding the nature of the game is revealed (just imagine yourself playing Love Plus with lots of people looking at you) except you can play a variety of mini-games with your virtual girlfriend in super high detailed 3D models and texture. Konami has also revealed how their Love Plus cabinets looks like, which you can see in the picture below. Apparently, the cabinets comes in 3 different flavours, each representing the 3 different girls in the game.
Just take a look at the cabinets! I don’t really think it’s a good idea for anyone to play Love Plus is the cabinet is actually like this!
After a day of playtesting, 4gamer has some impressions regarding the arcade game itself. If you can read Japanese, you might want to drop by their website for more detailed information.
Other little tidbits for the game includes the option of having a printout at the end of the play session. The prinout will… well, give you a little memory your playthrough and it would set you back for about 300 yen. A normal playthrough without printout is about 200 yen.

And this is how you would play the game. (via TwitPic)
Despite the fact that each cabinet has it’s own character design, it looks like players are able to select any of the 3 girls regardless of the cabinet they are playing on. The game starts off similarly like how the DS plays out like: you pick a girl and input your name.
The cabinet feature headphone jacks too, allowing as much immersion as the arcade would allow (arcades aren’t exactly quiet places). Apparently, the background music still plays through the cabinet’s speakers, but the girl’s voice will be played through the headphone port exclusively.
