Summer Wars!
For those who had attended AFA09, this shouldn’t come as much as a surprise for you, seeing that Mamoru Hosoda had recently revealed several interesting things during the AFA09 talk session about his upcoming movie, Summer Wars.
Mamoru Hosoda is famous for his previous works which includes “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” and the Digimon Adventure movies, just to name a few.
It was revealed during the talk session that Hosoda actually had gotten an offer to direct the upcoming Haruhi movie, titled as the Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi. Hosoda had told the crowd that he would like to direct the movie, but he did not formally accept the offer, thus he wasn’t exactly given the director role for the movie.
Other than the revelation of the Haruhi movie directorship, Hosoda was at AFA09 to talk a little bit about his Summer Wars movie, and to say the least, it looks pretty damn awesome.
Summer Wars is actually a movie about internet identity and stuffs like that. When the main character Kenji Koiso finds himself accused of being a hacker that had destroyed the virtual online world, Oz and subsequently endangering the world, he decides to arm him and the friends around him with an army of avatar in a bid to stop the real “hacker” from destroy the world. Other than Haruhi and Summer Wars, Hosoda had picked up a rather interesting topic to talk about during AFA09. He talked about typical people in Japan would use an online handle instead of their own real name. Now, I’m sure a lot of people (like me) uses an online handle, but Hosoda had explained that it would be easier for others to trust you if you used your real name instead of an online handle. But with all the dangers lurking in the web, would it be wise to use your real name? I wouldn’t know people’s preference, but Hosoda thinks that it’s fun to reveal your real name on the web. What do you think?
Stay tuned to more AFA09 related articles in a day or two!
