Modern Warfare 2 Breaks All Records In First Day

mw2

Through all tough times, to success!

While the PC version and the game itself is riddled with problems, it seems that the sales volume of Modern Warfare 2 hasn’t been affected at all.

Halo 3 had an impressive first day sales volume, and Grand Theft Auto 4 had an even more impressive one. However, Modern Warfare 2 just has got to take the cake away from the two as it has hit the world’s highest amount of copies sold in a single day.

According to Activision, Modern Warfare 2 was to be the “the biggest launch in history across all forms of entertainment”, and it seems that they were right on spot. Not only did Modern Warfare 2 have an awesome launch, it seems that Modern Warfare 2 had found it’s place in every single platform despite some shortcomings.

Activision had reported that Modern Warfare 2 had made a total of USD$310 million in a single day. And that’s not a worldwide number too! The amount of money racked in by Modern Warfare 2 in a single day was only recorded as a sum of both UK and America sales. The USD$310 million can be translated into an amazing 4.7 million copies too.

The previous record holder for the most amount of copies sold? Grand Theft Auto 4 at a miserable 3.6 million copies when it’s compared with Modern Warfare 2.

Either way, congratulations Infinity Ward! And we can probably expect Modern Warfare 3 to come out sometime later too!

Twas a pity it had to be released just as my final exams were starting. Wasn’t able to join in and contribute to this world record. :P
