Ah, Modern Warfare. One of the greatest game that ever graced the planet. Everyone loves Modern Warfare with it’s awesome guns and stuff. Everyone also loves cooperation when you play games. That’s why Infinity Ward is bringing us Co-Op mode for Modern Warfare 2.
Of course, not everyone will get a piece of the action with their friends, since Co-Op is limited to 2 players only. When asked why is Co-Op strictly limited to 2 players, Infinity Ward had replied that number 2 is the magical number for any kind of Co-Op games. The game will still stay fun and intense, and best of all, won’t turn into a clusterf**k of things. You should get the idea.
The previous game of the Call of Duty series, World At Wars had featured 4 players Co-Op, and an extremely popular Nazi Zombie mode, where 4 players can go against waves after waves of zombies which gets increasingly difficult to kill over time.
Moder Warfare 2’s Co-Op will be separated from the campaign too. That means that you will play Co-Op as a mode that is completely independent from the campaign. Think Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for this part. This particular Co-Op mode is called Special Ops and it will feature levels that could be replayed over and over again. While Co-Op is certainly a good feature to have, having no variety will indefinitely lead to boredom. Take a look at Left 4 Dead for example, the 4 stock campaigns are certainly as boring as hell now.

Modern Warfare 1, however, did not feature any Co-Op mode of sort, so I guess it’s good that we’ll be receiving a Co-Op. I won’t complain on that. However, while I do agree on the fact that 2 players Co-Op can be fun and intense (like Gears of War), I would still prefer a 4 player Co-Op. I mean, c’mon, there will be more people taking the bullets for me! What’s wrong with wanting more players from there?
