“Look ma, no hands.”
First Nintendo came out wtih Wii, that has more or less fully motion sensing capabilities. That proves to be a hit.
Next comes Sony with PlayStation 3, with plans to have a controller with motion sensing capabilities.
Of course, being the top out of the 3 companies out there, how can Microsoft not fight back?
Although details are as little as it gets now, thanks to the people at Engadget, who managed to get tipped off, here’s some news that may shed light on the upcoming motion sensing device for the Xbox 360.
The device would look like a bar, much like how Wii does their own detection. However, instead of using fancy gadgets like the Wiimote to do your motion, the bar apparently can read all your bodily movements, so you can kick, punch whatever! Sounds pretty neat.
I suppose instead of chunk of text, a list of capabilities will be more helpful, yes?
- Full body and hand gesture control of games / characters.
- In fighting games you kick, punch, duck, dive, jump and so forth with your body.
- It also picks up small hand gestures like pinching, grabbing and scrolling.
- There will also be video conferencing and games with video.
- Trivia game over the internet with live images of each person playing. When a question pops up, they can clap to buzz in.
- You can “move objects on your screen” and the other party can see what you’re doing in real time.
- Sensor detects only the person playing, not folks observing on the couch.
Sounds pretty awesome. However, this could all be a hoax, who knows. But then, if it’s real, then… AWESOME!
