The official website of Bungaku Shoujo (translated as the Literacy Girl) has recently updated itself with a 60 seconds long video which was adapted from Mizuki Nomura’s light novel.
Bungaku Shoujo, or the Literacy Girl is a mysterious school comedy which revolves around the two characters; a senior high school girl called Tōko Amano who calls herself the “literacy girl” and a boy named Konoha Inoue, a second year high school student who happens to be the club subordinate of Amano.
You can check out the trailer at the official website of Bungaku Shoujo. All you need to do is to click the word “Trailer” after you’ve accessed the webpage. The trailer introduces us to Tōko Amano, and it simply ends there.
Although Amano might look at a normal girl on the outside, she is really a supernatural creature (yōkai) who devours stories by tearing pages of books to munch on them. Inoue, on the other hand will write stories daily for Amano to devour on and has a secretive past: he once wrote an award winning novel before, but he had wrote under the pen-name of Miu Inoue, so people would thought that the author is really a mysterious 14-year-old bishōjo novelist. Following the novel’s success, the pressure from novel’s fame and its movie and television drama plans turned Inoue in an introverted recluse.
The series has also been adapted into a manga and you can check it out in this link.
Produced by Production I.G, the plot seems interesting enough and the trailer looks extremely beautiful. This might just be one of the better anime movies out there!
Bungaku Shoujo is set to be released late next April.
