The August issue of Monthly Gundam Ace reveals the first chapter of the upcoming Gundam mangas, both of which is set after the 1st Gundam’s and Gundam 00’s timeline.
These mangas are:
- Kidō Senshi Gundam Senki U.C. 0081-Suiten no Namida, which is translated into: Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record U.C. 0081: Tears of the Seas and Skies
- Kidō Senshi Gunda: Day after Tomorrow ~Kai Shiden no Memory yori~, which is translated into: Mobile Suit Gundam : Day after Tomorrow: From Kai Shiden’s Memories
In the particular issue, there will also be the manga adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam: MS IGLOO 2 series. MS IGLOO 1 and 2 has been some of the best Gundam shows ever produced, mainly because it mostly shows the soldier’s side of the war, not the Gundam’s side of the war.
Kidō Senshi Gundam Senki U.C. 0081-Suiten no Namida actually follows quite an interesting story. Right after the Federation won the One Year War, a series of attacks coordinated by the insurgent Zeon counteroffensive was met with the Federation’s special forces. The series will revolve around the skirmish of both parties, and will also serve as a tie in for the upcoming Gundam game to arrive on the PS3.

While I don’t follow Gundam closely, some of these upcoming series are just too much for me to ignore. The last great Gundam series that ever happened to me was 08th MS Team. I don’t know, I just like the idea of normal soldiers fighting wars, not super-powered Gundams that slices Zakus and GMs alike into tiny bits while not feeling any kind of damage or fear from getting destroyed.
Maybe that’s just me…
