Nintendo’s Latest DSi LL: Bulky Has A New Face

The DSi LL versus the DSi!

Just when you thought the DS had enough revisions, Nintendo decides to roll out yet another revision of it’s extremely successful Nintendo DS handheld console, named the Nintendo DSi LL.

Building upon the previous Nintendo DSi, the LL version promises some bigger screen size for the handheld, a new (and bulky) stylus. Of course, with a bigger screen size and stylus, the DSi LL is a heck load bigger than the previous DSi, and it is confirmed that the DSi LL is probably the heaviest handheld console you’ll ever carry for this generation.

Nintendo DSi LL stands at 16.1cm in length, as opposed to the previous 13.7cm of the DSi. Screen size is increased by a whole inch on the DSi LL, although the bigger advantage of the DSi LL comes with a hefty weight increase of about 100g!

The weight department of the DSi LL is no joke too. After the increased 100g weight from it’s old DSi revision, the DSi LL is a tad heavier the first PSP (PSP-1000), or more frequently known as the PSP Phat. Yes, it’s that bulky and heavy.

If you’re interested, you can head over to Kotaku for a detailed comparison of the specifications ranging from the sizes of the DS revisions, as well as the expected battery life between each different settings of the brightness.

As a trivia, LL does stand for Extra Large in Japan. In Europe, it is known as the Nintendo DSi XL. Oh, we can only guess why it is called LL and XL!
