Otaku Encyclopedia: All You Ever Need To Know

otaku2encyclopedia

I’m sure this isn’t exactly news for everyone, but you should know that there’s actually an encyclopedia that contains all kinds of otaku-related information, all packed inside a handy book which adopts the title of “Otaku Encyclopedia”.

Written by Patrick Galbraith and published by Kodansha International, this particular encyclopedia packs a lot of information. Ranging from key celebrities to phrases and memes that are commonly used by the otaku community, this encyclopedia looks extremely comprehensive. Information are presented out quite nicely, in an alphabetic format with occasional images accompanying some of the described phrases.

You can find more images about the whole book itself at Danny’s website, where he had received a copy of this marvelous book and had shown everyone how great this book is.

Other than that, the encyclopedia actually features their very own mascot, although I’ve got no idea what’s the mascot’s name as of now. I need to get my hands on one of these books… I wonder if the local Japanese bookstore here has them in stock.

If you’re looking for an online way to get this book, you can try your luck at Amazon.com. I’m actually surprised at how cheap this book is.

First, we get a book on the best shops in Akihabara. Now we get a book based off the otaku culture. What’s next? Maybe a general cosplaying guide that contains advices from some of the most celebrated cosplayers in Japan? It can be a possiblity!
