Otakuma — Bringing the community closer than ever!

otakuma

An overview of the site.

You’re totally in love with this anime, and you would want to name this character as your waifu, as well as having a whole bunch of *insert collectibles* in your room. However you’re looking for, be it a soulmate, or a friend that you wish to share your interest with?

No problem! Otakuma will be the perfect solution for you!

Translated into Otaku Match, this service will allow users to search for friends relevant to their interests. The service is strictly used to searching for friends, not for dates, and is brought to the public by the company C.S.T. Entertainment.

Of course, being a social networking site like the popular Facebook or MySpace, there’s a number of categories that users can use to search for their friends. These categories ranges from manga, anime, books, cosplays, idols, voice actors and what’s not. They even include tokusatsu and even military sections in it!

category

Different categories for users to choose from.

Usage of the site is fairly easy too. Users will simply have to describe their interest by filling into the categories and sub-categories, then do a search based on that. There’s also a profiles page for every single user, where other users in the website will have the choice of viewing these pages to find their potential friends.

The service will even put up a percentage counter, just to see how compatible you’re with that person’s interests.

While the features of the site stands at this now, C.S.T. Entertainment plans to have more features into the site in the near feature.

In this manner, you can probably think of it as yet another social networking site, but instead of making friends randomly, almost everyone there has more or less the same similar interest that you share.

However, with all the excitement aside, there are several problems that may arise from the social site. There’s a mention of this site helping people that has trouble with meeting offline by trying to give them the opportunity to make friends online, but doesn’t bring about another negative effect?

Meh, I can only imagine
