Personalize Your Zombie Apocalyse

l4d3

While playing L4D, would you somehow or another think that there is simply not enough carnage to go around 4 players? I mean, seriously! Having 4 miniguns covering the whole room would be so damn cool wouldn’t it?

Well, technically, we could only dream about these great ideas… this now.

Valve has recently stated on their L4D blog that they have decided to do a beta on their L4D Authoring Tool to the public. The Authoring Tool is a powerful tool that allows the users to create their own campaign, character skins, 3D models, sound effects and even music and then load these into the game itself. This will allow you to do whatever you ever dreamed of doing in L4D.

L4D Authoring Tool is also used by the Valve Devs to create content for L4D itself.

Valve will also update their own matchmaking system in a few weeks later to support these customized campaigns and maps. This will allow the community ample of time to start cracking and by the time Valve updates the system, hopefully the community would have a lot of customized campaign for everyone to play on.

If you’re interested in making your very own campaign, all you need is a copy of L4D for Steam, and you can find the tools at the Tools tab under your own Steam client. It’s all that simple!

So, what are the possibilities? Maybe someone would create an infected maze or something, or even just a linear map with lots of explosives, barricades in between! Regardless of what, I’m sure there’s plenty of carnage to go around this time.

Now, I shall go design a map loaded with miniguns!
