Possible Metal Gear at your nearby Arcade

Yes, you’ve not hear wrong. It is quite possible that Metal Gear might make it’s way to the arcades… MIGHT.

Konami has filed a pair of trademarks that hint towards possible Metal Gear arcade action in the future. The listings are Metal Gear and Tactical Online Action, and both are described as “arcade games…

Now, now, now. Metal Gear in arcades? I can’t imagine how it’s going to be like. What, on rails shooter? That can’t be, Metal Gear is supposed to be an espionage game! What kind of weapons would you get anyway? A Tranquilizer? That would sure be effective against enemies!

While on the Metal Gear topic, Metal Gear has 2 games on PC, namely Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance.

Arcade choices aren’t aplenty here (but there is still quite a selection to choose from), in Singapore that is. So far, there had been several games in the arcades, but they are usually grouped into several distinguishable categories. Such as racing, on-rails, sports etc.

Metal Gear grew up from a sneaking game, and I see no way that it’ll fit into an existing arcade category. Maybe they would make it a mecha-like game that was quite popular in the past, setting all the Metal Gears into place. There isn’t much Metal Gears we’ve known of anyway.

I’m still wishing that another Metal Gear will be coming to PC soon and Tactical Online Action sounds quite promising… but then, damn you Konami!

    I’ve heard about that game, but I don’t have a iPhone, which did lead to me not taking a look at it.

    Seems fun, but it’s a little weird where it’s supposed to be a stealth-like game… but meh! Maybe it’ll work out like how the iPhone’s game will xD.

    You should take a look at Metal Gear Solid Touch (which came out on the iPhone a month ago), which would be perfect for arcades since it’s essentially a shooting gallery.
