We shall petition together, my brother.
Here’s the chance for everyone to be a part of the greatest petition ever created in the world: “Bring back LAN for Starcraft 2, please.”
If you haven’t been informed (actually, you should, the no LAN post is just below this post) about the more recent news about Starcraft 2 not supporting LAN, then here’s your chance to learn about it. Just jump right into this post located in this link.
For others, here’s what the petition says:
The new Battle.net sounds absolutely awesome from the sneak peeks you have given us, and people will most likely be using it exclusively, even if they only play single player. However, there is no harm in allowing LAN play as well, and it does bring further depth and life to what will probably become the top RTS of the next decade.
Other arguments includes about how Starcraft gained it’s massive popularity due to LAN and LAN does not contribute to anything else other than the ease of ad-hoc gaming when you’re visiting another person’s house to play. It’s that simple.
And of course, the new Battle.net sounds and looks awesome already. Just look at it’s own site! Everything’s done from there, even activating my ultra-old copy of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction can be done online!
Although the feasibility of a petition reaching the ears of a Blizzard employee is actually not very high, there’s still a chance for LAN option to come back. I’m sure with sufficient numbers, Blizzard will eventually take note of this and might just consider the possibility of adding LAN to the game. You would want LAN in your future games wouldn’t you?
Standing at about seven thousand plus signs already, I’ve added my own to the cause. How about you?
