Which brings the thought of: “how will the controllers look like?”
Says the Chief Creative Officer of Electronic Arts, Rich Hilleman. He believes that the PS3 and Xbox360 are about to cross the finishing line of their lifetime, but seeing that both Sony and Microsoft are unwilling to part with their current technology, the Xbox360 and PS3 would be seeing major upgrades before they actually move onto the next generation or consoles.
Hilleman believes that we’ll be seeing a Playstation 3.5 and Xbox 560 before the arrival of PS4 or even the Xbox 720. While it’s not exactly an accurate way of saying that we’ll really see such consoles such as PS3.5 or 560 before the arrival PS4 or 720, Hilleman says that the most important factor of where this current generation of consoles are going is the kind of distribution methods that are taking place.
It seems that the market is moving towards a more mobile distribution kind of platform, which of course, means gaming on-the-go kind of thing. Which also means that the PSP, DS and even other mobile phones (iPhone and stuffs) are actually gaining and edge over the PS3 and Xbox360 in the gaming industry.
So what does this mean? Maybe the PS3.5 is actually an extremely mobile version of the PS3 and vice versa for the Xbox 560? I wouldn’t know, but I’m as sure as hell that Microsoft is not planning to release any new consoles until 2015 comes around, and that’s pretty damn good news if you’re thinking about console life-time.
