“If all the PS3 were little girls like her, we wouldn’t have any trouble!”
We all know that PS3 has quite a library of games now. However, that library of games aren’t as comparable as the library on other console.
Why is that? Simply because the PS3 is too difficult for developers to work on.
Free Radical Design, developer for the futuristic first person shooter game, Haze, had claimed that the PS3 is a little too difficult to work on. Best known for their Timesplitter game, Haze is to able quite a decent game if it’s not for the huge magnitude of technical issues that the development team had faced.
During an interview with Develop.net, Free Radical Design had said that the reason why Haze had failed to deliever what it promised is simply because of the fact that it was difficult working with the PS3 hardware. The team had said that they had hit on a few stumbling blocks and that meant they spent more time trying get the game running properly and less time to design the game properly.
The team had also said that the game, Haze, that was released sometime ago was not the game that they intended to make.
However, the team does not deny the power of the PS3, saying that the PS3 is “powerful machine but a difficult one to get the best out of.”
With the recent acquisition of the company to Crytek, it seems that Free Radical Design is convinced that they are able to make better games on the PS3. The team had also said that they know that the PS3 is a great machine, and no one is able to push it to it’s limits yet.
While it’s good to see teams learning from their mistakes in on the PS3 platform, it still doesn’t change the fact that the PS3 is kind of difficult to work on in comparison to the other platform…
Maybe Sony would make it easier for developers to jump boat. PS3 is not in exactly the best of sales as of now…
