It’s not like… I-I-I wanted you to queue up!

When you have fans queuing up almost a whole month earlier than your expected appearance date, you’ll probably know that you’re somewhat extremely popular. Rie Kugimiya, famous for her tsundere roles (Taiga in Toradora, Shana in Shakugan no Shana, need I say more?) in many anime projects, Rie Kugimiya has gotten herself an army of fans waiting for her arrival at the Taipei International Book exhibition.
Fans of hers had lined up at the streets of Taipei since the 3rd of January, and that’s 25 days before the start of the exhibition, which will be held on the 28th of January. The reason is pretty simple: they all want a piece of the tsundere queen’s autograph!
There’s a catch however, seeing that fans would need to possess this special Shana ceramic plate in order to gain Rie Kugimiya’s signature. A total of 150 was produced, and 50 of them were sold online, although nearly 80,000 orders were recorded before the pre-order session closed. The time taken for all 50 to be gone? Just a mere 30 seconds.
Another 100 will be available for the first 100 entree to the convention centre, although 11 of these plates were moved to the online pre-order shop due to overwhelming response in that 30 seconds. The remaining 89 plates are now contested by every single fan in Taiwan who wishes to have the chance of owning the plate.
Since the 3rd of January, fans had started queuing at the front of Taipei 101, but authorities ushered them away, discouraging them to forming a queue when there’s other events being held at the site of the building. The fans then moved off to a nearby shopping centre and has been queuing there since then.
It’s dedication that holds these people together, but one can’t help but to wonder if they had to go to that far for the plates…
