We all know that Japan is probably famous for their own zealous warriors in the past. They wield long Katana and has extremely elaborated armour and stuffs like that. If you ask what do people normally think of when others says Japan, chances are that people would think about Samurais first.
An example of such tights.
That kind of thought is no longer limited to just foreigners. It would seems that underwear (or short tights) featuring the patterns from from samurai warrior armour is gaining popularity in Japan as female gift-givers are finding all sorts of gifts to give to. This is partly due to the fact that there’s a growing interest of the 15th to 16th century’s great civil war.
Rogin Inc, a Tokyo-based apparel company, is apparently offering 10 different types of underwears. Each features different pattern designs that is said to be from the legendary 16th century samurai leaders Oda Nobunaga and Takeda Shingen.
The company had also stated that they had difficulty keeping up with demand. They have sold 10,000 pieces thus far, and each piece is prices at about 10,000 yen.
When asked to comment on the underwear, one female said that these underwears are actually “cool”, although it’s a little “showy”.
Another factor that may have contributed to the rise of popularity may be attributed to the on-going anime called “Sengoku Basara”, as this particular anime features fictitious samurai warriors which are, more or less, handsome.
But, really! I would take a full warrior armour than a piece of underwear!

It is also said that Sengoku Basara had somewhat of an influence with Japanese’s growing interests in history of the Warring States. This has even spurred upon an increase of women interested in samurai-style patterned underwears! [...]
