Sony Believes iPad Will Boost Their PSP Sales Volume

Oversized iPod Touch much?

The iPad from Apple has apparently received mixed views from consumers to companies, but it looks like Sony is one company that is looking forward to the iPad. Simply because Sony believes the iPad will serve as a catalyst for would-be gamers to jump onto the PSP platform!

While Nintendo had simply dismissed the iPad as an oversized iPod Touch, Sony firmly believes that iPad users will eventually hop onto the PSP platform when they need a more intense gaming fix.

John Koller who represents Sony said this: “Apple’s entrance into the portable gaming space has been a net positive for Sony … when people want a deeper, richer console, they start playing on a PSP.” Come to think of it, the statement is actually pretty solid, considering the gaming limitation an iPod Touch has in comparison to a PSP.

However, would anyone really lug a 10″ iPad around with them for portable gaming? Maybe if it acts as a laptop, but that’s definitely far from what PSP is classified as…
