Square Enix going in a weird direction…

squareenix

With all the excitement in the air about the highly anticipated game in Square Enix’s history for a few years now, it is easy to overlook some of the lower-profile games that Square Enix have participated in.

Although Square Enix has firmly established it’s foothold in the RPG market, it seems that it is still looking for opportunities to cash in… well, more cash.

And the results is?

Square Enix being part of a strange genre that they barely touched on: real-time strategy games. Yes, RTS games. Puts in you command in all the troops and stuff. Manage resources blah blah what’s not.

And thus, they brought us a game, joint effort with developer Wargaming.net, called Order of War, which will be on the PC Platform.

Order of War takes place in World War 2, and players will be able to gain control of the Allies and Soviets against the Nazis. Order of War also features both air and land battles, and the game will be released simultaneously this fall across all terrorties (i assume it’s throughout the world).

Due to numerous factors that contributes to the decline of games in the PC platform, this is certainly good news that more games are actually flowing into the PC market, but I doubt this is what all PC gamers wants anyway.

There’s really an over saturation of WW2 related games in the PC Market already, and I’m sure games such as Dawn of War 2 will receive much more love than games such as Company of Heroes.

However, this is still good news regardless, since it shows that Square Enix is finally looking at the PC market, instead of directing all their attention onto the console market. PC still has a chance, still has a chance!
