We know Square Enix is clearly one of the more “superior” publisher and game creating company in the market, since they publish quite a fair amount of good games, and had made one of the most successful games in the world — Final Fantasy.
However, regardless of how successful they are these days, it seems that they are lacking one very important thing in their company. What’s that one thing?
“Openess”, said game developing studio tri-Ace. In case you guys don’t know what studio tri-Ace is, it’s the studio that had developed the greatly successful Star Ocean series, as well as Valkyrie Profile. These are some of the games that PS2 owners would not miss.
Why the comment of openess on Square Enix, when majority of their games are published by Square Enix? Apparently, tri-Ace believes that Square Enix is… too closed to ideas.
tri-Ace’s newest game, Ends of Eternity, is set to be published by SEGA instead of Square Enix. According to tri-Ace, they believe that SEGA is more open towards new RPG ideas than Square Enix. Thus, the decision to move their game from Square Enix to SEGA.
Yeah, Square Enix; You can start being more open about your ideas now, instead of doing your Unfinalized Fantasies and sueing all the Chrono Trigger groups out there.
On another note, I think Namco produces much better games than Square Enix. Much better.
