Steam Will Invade Alienware’s PC

What an awesome combination, no?

Steam is probably one of the best gaming platforms ever on the PC, seeing that it provides all sorts of functions such as online shopping, game previews, demos and even a community service to top it off.

However, Valve seems to be unsatisfied with the amount of subscribers it has, as it has recently teamed up with Dell to have all Alienware computer to come preloaded with Steam itself.

According to what Dell and Valve had agreed on, every single computer and laptop in Alienware’s line up will all come preinstalled with Steam, as well as a complimentary copy of Portal. Doesn’t really mean much to consumers, since Steam will just make life easier for you, but for other companies? I can only imagine how much sales they would stand to lose…

Steam is usually bundled as part of the popular Valve games (Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike: Source) or interested parties can just simply download Steam off their official site.

However, since Alienware isn’t exactly the first company that people would approach for their machines (crazy prices and somewhat lacking hardwares), this doesn’t mean that Valve is going to stop there. We can probably expect Valve to move in and propose more computer manufacturers to have Steam preloaded in their machines…

If you’re on a custom built computer or have the expertise to do so, I really doubt this piece of news will affect you. However, if you’re one that usually buys computers from manufacturers, then you might want to tuck this piece of information at the back of your head whenever you’re out shopping for a new computer.
