Street Fighter 4’s Abel Was Originally A Little Girl?

abel

This is how Abel looks like in SF4.

Abel. One character that I totally hate fighting in Street Fighter 4. Maybe it’s just me who suck at playing, but there’s no denying that his grab moves are annoying. Annoying as he is, do you know that he was originally planned out as a character with a smaller build?

According to the SF4 Blogpost done by battle planner Taisaku Okada, it is revealed that Abel was originally planned out as a character whose motive was supposedly “a representation of ‘the weak can beat the strong’” and that he was originally a “small judo character who could be mistaken for a girl”.

And here’s the previous character design before he was changed into a more manly kind of person like he is now:

And this is how Abel looks like originally.

Yeah. What are you thinking with “could be mistaken for a girl”? I mean, look at it! He looks like a girl in every single possible way!

Which Abel do you prefer?

I don’t know about you, but I’m sure I would love to have Abel in his original form more than what he is now. Street Fighter 4 has too many buffed men. Then again, it is Street Fighter we’re talking about here…

Honestly, I think macho-buffed man would be better. Among all the new fighters, Abel would be the man people may look up to.

I hope hey make that an “outfit” for those who bought the Street Fighter IV PS3/X360 game, and include it in Super Street Fighter IV, if that is what they were talking about when they said they would give something to those who bought the original game.
