Team Fortress 2 SITREP #3: Close Combat Kit Promises Death To Soldiers

CCK

Bloody ‘em up!

It has been four days into the war, and now the Demomen are presented with a new set of weapons to aid them in the remainder (well, not really) of the war. Straight from Mann Co comes the Highlander and Chargin’ Targe. The weapons, dubbed as the Close Combat Kit will allow Demomen to feel the glee and joy of cleaving a Soldier’s head off clean, as well as arriving at the front lines in the nick of time.

Due to the fact that the Demomen are still losing the war, Mann Co. had seen it fit to send the first shipments of weapons to the Demomen, in hopes of revitalizing the war on the losing side. It’s a friendly competition, you see!

worldseasiestclass

The Demomen will crush the “World’s Easiest Class” in matters of days?!

The Highlander, essentially a huge broadsword that is designed to literally cleave off a victim’s head is a melee weapon that replaces the handy Grenade Launcher that the Demoman originally wields. Every one-eyed Scotsmen would know that killing an enemy does not mean you shoot a bullet, grenade or anything like that. Killing an enemy means closing up nice and comfortable with them, and finally delivering a cleave to the unfortunate fellow’s neck.

The Chargin’ Targe, on the other hand, is actually a defensive weapon that goes hand in hand with The Highlander. Replacing the extremely useful Sticky Bomb Launcher, this Chargin’ Targe will provide Demomen with 45% Fire Resistance and 65% Blast Resistance, plus allowing them to rush in the front in the fastest time possible! Any Demomen who is worth their Soldier kill tallies must have this! Used in conjunction with The Highlander, the Chargin’ Targe provides a massive buff to the sword, as much as allowing a full critical hit when the Charge Attack successfully connects with an enemy!

For a full range of specifications on both the weapons themselves, check out their specifications down here.

whatcouldthismean

What could the “SCO” and “RES” mean?

A third weapon has yet to be announced, but as you can see from the above picture, it just reeks of sinister. What could it be? What does it do? How does it look like? What is it actually named?

With these two new weapons in the Demomen’s arsenal, there’s no telling if Demomen will be on their way to victory. However, for the past several days, we’ve been seeing a constant 200,000 plus kills gap between the Demomen and the Soldier. Will this bloody war end with the Soldier or Demomen winning? Only time will tell!

Demoman is the team spirt of a competitive play though, when demo is down the team fire power is weaken by 100%
-200% depends on their team style of playing.

(Demo grenades are still the best damage as two grenade loop into a splash of a small group roughly 3-4 of the whole team dies if they stick to closely) = )

Strongest team of euro and amercia would be 20ID so far i seen (though their team, every one of them are elite in their own class/performance) They still for stall most of their time if their demo dies.

Generally Solly are easier to use than Demo thats for sure as for easiest class i don’t really think so =)

Any way either one of them win doesn’t really matter lol XD (demo/solly user)

I agree with what is said mostly, though you should note that these mostly apply to competitive TF2 mainly. In pub servers where W+M1 is rampant, nothing like that really matters, it’s just W+M1 and ‘demo is OP’. :P

If you didn’t know yet, Soldiers are still leading in the kill tally, and they’ve just received their first unlock to counter the demomen’s silly melee weapons. Hahaha, demomen charging up to you = easier to land direct shots with your crocket! And this new unlock is just the thing for that!

I’m not sure like this new development. I’m sure it’ll be implemented better than it sounds. On the other hand, Demoman is probably my least favorite class. I generally only use it when I want to vault up to the 2Fort battlements and destroy sentry guns in the second floor area.

This sword and Shield thing sounds interesting but I’m not so sure. Also notice the 4th package is huge, which suggests the weapon up for grabs is huge.

Soldier on the other hand, is my least played class but even before the update I started playing it a lot and I like Soldier a lot.

Also I’m not so sure about Soldier being the easiest. People have always complained about Pyro being “for noobs” because half the time you can get away with W+M1 .

FWIW, My favorite/best class is probably Scout, though I’m a pretty decent “Defensive Spy” abnd I like playing Medic or Pyro quite a bit.

I don’t really like using Demoman, unless it’s for the reason that you’ve specified. They really do well in taking out Sentries!

I usually play Heavy more. Sometimes I play Sniper, but more than often, I fail pretty badly. xD
