Sharing is a good thing!

The big screen size of the DSi LL (or DSi XL) is not just for gaming on a bigger resolution, or even viewing things in the bigger resolution. According to the CEO of Nintendo, the DSi LL is actually planned towards being a more of a sharable handheld console than the previous revisions.

Still remember the good old days where a ton of kids would crowd around a single kid’s Gameboy just because that kid has a Pokemon game running on the Gameboy? It seems that this kind of idea had caught the attention of Nintendo, as their latest revision of DSi is not just allowing people to have a bigger screen on their handheld, but also to allow the surrounding people to “particiapte” in the game too.

While not much details was revealed about this participation methods, it is said that the DSi LL will be the first portable system to be enjoyed by, not just the owner, but the surrounding people too. The CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, has said that he envisions the DSi LL to be a handheld in the future where people could participate in the game together with the DSi’s owner. He says that communication will play a vital role in making these “participation” games work.

Think the DSi LL is going to be a handheld that would involve the others in your gaming too? Your choice to believe, or not to. But as for me, I would pretty like to keep my portable gaming to myself.
