Believe it or not, you can start using your extremely old Gameboy (yes, the very first one) as an external hard-disk today, if you’re willing to experiment some techniques yourself.
Modder “_n3o_” had brought it upon himself with the great task of converting his very own Gameboy into something else that he can use in the current century. Now now, don’t get me wrong, but Gameboy these days aren’t really the choice console that people would use. Extremely big, extremely bulky, it’s anything but portable gaming. But there’s where _n3o_ comes in.
He gutted the Gameboy itself, installed a 2.5″ 80GB SATA HDD into the device, changed the link cable port into a USB port, changed the LED of the Gameboy to the hard-disk’s, as well as going to the extent of adding a reflective film behind the Gameboy’s screen with the wording of “Super Hard Disk”, effectively parodying Super Mario World that was way popular back when Gameboy first came out.
_n3o_, however, had not given the technical details on how to make this sweet device, but had left us with some explanation on how he did it. Maybe some of the modders out there could copy his explanation and make out another Gameboy Hard Drive. Mmhmm!
