Oh hey, look! My idea came true… roughly that is.
Shortly after the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2, fans began worrying about the fate of Left 4 Dead 1, as the sequel was announce when the first game is barely even in it’s first year. This sparked massive movements, such as a “Boycott L4D2″ Steam group which has gathered more than 30,000 members since it’s creation.
However, amidst all the boycotts and stuffs, it seems that Valve is busy with another plan of theirs when Left 4 Dead 2 does come out. For all the L4D fans out there, how does a cross-game play sounds to you?
While there has been no real details about the cross-game play, Valve’s VP of Marketing, Doug Lombardi has revealed that Valve is looking into the possibility of having a cross-game play between the original game and it’s sequel.
If this feature is successfully implemented, this will mean that those who owns the original will be able to play with the players that owns the sequel. I don’t know how this will work out, but it still sounds pretty cool if you ask me.
What little has been revealed is that Valve is still looking into the details of the cross-game play, but they understand that it’s a very valid feature to be working and looking at. Who knows, they might amaze us with something awesome.
Other than that, remember Valve had said that they are creating a mod tool that would work with both games? It seems that Valve is actually aiming that the modifications done in either of the game be easily ported between both games. That means both games can actually co-exist together in the modding scene.

Regardless of what people would say about L4D2, I’m sure this is excellent news for both old and new players alike. Cross-game playing sounds wonderful in my books.
