Everyone that loves anime should have one nicovideo account. You can’t watch free anime there, but you definitely can catch some whacky edited scenes that, once you find out what they mean, is truly funny.

I know, it’s troublesome to go register on some Japanese site, where you don’t even understand half their language despite there being so many guides on how to register and navigate the site on the net. Yes, very hard indeed.

But then again, YouTube always fails to deliver the newest Vocaloid video content to everyone, and so once in awhile, I shall post video like these…

Well, whatever, do read on this topic, which involves a brief introduction to what is nicovideo, how to register and navigate it…And last but not least, vocaloid videos~!

*Doing this cause NicoVideo’s user are the first supporters of all vocaloid videos, and the origin of most videos!*

Well, simply put, NicoVideo is a very popular video sharing site in Japan. It is usually known as niconico or nico-do, where niconico is actually an idiophone of nikoniko, which means smiling. It’s also awarded the Japanese Good Design Award in 2007.

Besides having the same function as all video sharing sites, nicovideo is famous for its overlaying comments that follows the duration of post and length of video. It can be switched on or off, but I leave it on for that’s what really give niconico the special feeling.

NicoVideo is of one the few video sites that actually encourages everyone to use high quality videos and uses scripts that actually allows people to vote for the video by posting certain comments on it.

It is also frequently visited by otaku, which made up most, if not, all of the population in NicoVideo. And thus, this place is the closest to paradise on the internet for all otaku!

How to register for a nicovideo account and how it works?

But if you are the kind that loves to give comments, then do continue with the guide as it will give you a basic idea of how to response in NicoVideo, where most of the population are Japanese.

Now you are ready to start finding videos on NicoVideo. If you ever want to find the videos you really, really want, then be ready to use google translate or wikipedia as a source for your japanese words. Get ready to be dissapointed when you use english or romanji as search, as they usually gives 1 or 2 pages of results, which is evry little.

And since you can visit NicoVideo now, why not join the weekly top videos? All you need to do is just watch them, and give them one unique hit per account and they will be recorded.

Miku works really hard to keep vocaloids in the top 100!
