ACGC 2009 - Day 1
The first ACGC of the year took place in Tropicana City Mall, on the 21st and 22nd March. As compared to the first ACGC of last year, this event was great.
The ACGC Mini-cooper, parked just outside the main entrance. Looks like they have a different mascot on it this time. Does it change yearly?
Upon walking through the main entrance to Tropicana City Mall, you could spot the event area. (Following shot taken from 1st floor)
IMO, it was a good choice of venue. It was just spacious enough, had magnificent lighting, and was nicely air-conditioned. Stage was placed in a good location too.
Let’s just take a brief look at some of the booths set up.
Day 1 of the event featured a L4D time trial tournament, while day 2 hosted a FIFA tournament.
Couple of gamers going at it with Street Fighter.
One of the cosplay judges, Alan.
I am not sure if this Sushi Tei booth had lots of stock, or if no one bought anything. ^^; Even towards the end of the event they were pretty well equipped.
The Nintendo Wii is at every event. And so are the Wii girls.
U Mobile is also everywhere.
I like their mascot. But I am still wondering if it is supposed to be three characters, or one character with three different hairstyles.
One thing I really liked about this event, was the cosplay hangout area.
Not only did they set aside a relatively spacious corner for the cosplayers, they placed lots of nice props to serve as background objects. Such as the sakura/umbrella tree you see in the below picture.
Cosplayer on the left dropped his mike. Twice.
This cosplayer managed to achieve, what I thought was a high accurate representation of Nnoitora. Save for skin tone and four missing yellow bangles.
The MC was pretty good. He could relate to the crowd well, and had a good sense of humor.
Wrong focus is wrong.
lol Guess who that is on the right.
Anyone know where this character is from?
On day 1, the cosplay competition was for the group category. Only 3 groups participated, so it was a sure win contest. DMC snatched 1st place.
Oh, those of you who have seen my coverage of past events might’ve noticed that I’ve got clear, “un-blur” photos for this event. I just want to say that I have practiced real hard, worked for it, learned a lot, and put my dSLR to use thanks Mr. Sun.

As for me, I reckon the venue was wee bit cramp as I keep bumping into other people(or maybe I was just being super clumsy -_-’). Missed a lot of the cosplaying event as well and to add to the injury, I’ve totally forgot to bring my camera as well 0_o. Oh, and thanks for the awesome pics mate ^^.

@laniemon,
Nah, I suppose it was a little cramp. I didn’t keep bumping into others though. ^^;
@iruka,
Yeah, lots of cosplayers from CF were there too. And I could only get nice pictures because of the sunlight. ^^; I would’ve failed otherwise.
@Tee Juan,
Heh, yeah.
