Yo~ Chong Mizunaga, back and reporting!

Today, it’s Anime·Tech, which I’ve mentioned a few times before.

Mid Valley Branch

They sell lots of anime-related stuff, such as these figures and plushies. Took the following picture when the sun was out and shining through the (glass) roof. Coincidentally, most of the light is focused on the Bishoujo figure shelf ^^;

More figures-

Lots of books. I’m not too sure, but I think these are artwork books? Some correct me if I’m wrong.

Code Geass stuffs.

I usually get my accessories from this place. However, sometimes the accessories can get to be quite crap, like this Lucky Star one here:

Other goods you can find in Anime·Tech are OSTs, singles, original PIRATED DVDs, some cosplay items, jigsaw puzzles, and other miscellaneous stuff. No games, dakimakuras, or oppai mousepad here though. No Gundams either (Gundams can be found in Jusco, Toys ‘R’ Us, and in some other hobby shops). A lot of their goods are China products (I.E., pirated stuff).

Overall, I’d say their stuff is pretty overpriced, and you should avoid buying stuff from here, especially figures. If it’s figures you’re looking for, you should try the XL-shop instead. The most worthwhile thing you can get from this place, IMO, is the accessories.

Rose Cross - D. Gray Man

Author: Chong Mizunaga
04 5th, 2008

Mentioned yesterday I got a new accessory.

It’s the Exorcists‘ Rose Cross- Yet another dangerously sharp necklace.

One might also call this the Black Order’s crest.

Details are very fine, but lost to my camera once again. Here’s a sharper picture.

Many of my non-otaku friends said that this was “So cool.”

Rose Cross costs RM 7.90 and can be found @ Youth Comic Station.

BTW- This be from anime D. Gray-man, if you didn’t know.

EDIT (13th October, 2008): Unfortunately, this place has now closed down. I suspect it was due to a lack of business, but whatever the reason, it is sad to have lost an otaku store.

A while back, Squee asked the question- what are the usual otaku haunts in KL?

I don’t really know what the usual haunts are, but I’m going to start a series of some of the places I visit regularly.

This be “Youth Comic Station”.

Located @ 2nd Floor, Pearl Point, Old Klang Road.

Has been a sale going on for a long time now, but nobody’s buying anything. It’s all manga, but it’s in Mandarin. And I, unfortunately, can’t read Mandarin.

Is a very good place to get Chinese manga, and some pirated VCD box sets. Also available are some figures (quite a number. But I am guessing they are bootlegs too), posters and many accessories. This be where I got my Dirge and Alastor.

I usually come here to get my accessories- bought a new one today, along with a poster.

Will review them sometime tomorrow. I’m having a bit of a headache now.

So if you’re down in Malaysia, and it’s not out of your way, you might wanna just take a look at the place- lots of good products for cheap (and they’re not pirated goods).

Alastor - Shakugan no Shana

Author: Chong Mizunaga
03 11th, 2008

This is the last of the series. This is Alastor of Shakugan no Shana.

It’s a phone strap, and is composed of a red gem held in place by metal linings and two wings. The centerpiece has a gem in a nice red color, while the back is bare. The back of the left wing says 「灼眼のシャナ」 (Shakugan no Shana).

I got this for RM15.90 @ a (chinese) manga store in Pearl Point, Old Klang Road. (Same place I got my Dirge of Cerberus from.) Currently still available.

Yesterday, I modified it to become like this, so now I can wear it as a necklace- much like how Shana brings Alastor about.

Had wanted to put it on a chain instead, but remembered that the only chain I have is broken. Will use this until I buy a new chain.

And that’s all the accessories I have for now- Will surely get more as time goes. ^^

Blood Necklace

Truthfully, I have no idea which anime/manga/game this necklace came from, but my only guess is Blood+. Anyone can help identify this?

Not much to describe about this. Have only worn this a few times so far, and have had no problems when I did. It is a nice bronze color and is made of solid metal.

Costs about RM 20. (Also unsure of price)

I think this can be acquired @ Anime·Tech, Mid Valley as well, but am not too sure, since my brother bought this for me (as well as the first Geass one).

Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII

Perhaps my first anime accessory, this is Vincent’s Dirge that he hangs on his Cerberus. (Thus, Dirge of Cerberus)

Incredibly detailed, and not painted. Like the first Geass one, it is shiny, but not glossy.

Have worn this many times as well, and have not had many problems with it. The only problem has to do with the tail- since it’s free to swing around, it sometimes gets in the gap between its third head and wing.

Here’s a more detailed picture of a similar necklace.

The aforementioned problem aside, it’s a very good purchase.

I bought this for RM 10 @ a (chinese) manga shop in Pearl Point, Old Klang Road. No longer available.

Suzumiya Haruhi Accessories

Author: Chong Mizunaga
03 11th, 2008

Next up, this is a Suzumiya Haruhi flash plate. Contains a sharp, clear image of Haruhi that flashes when its solar panel is exposed to a light source (source does not need to be the sun).

The image of Haruhi is, of course, much clearer than you see in this picture.

Attached to the flash plate is a hook and it comes with keychain links, and a phone strap, so you can change it as you please. It’s quite heavy, and adds quite a bit of weight if you hang it on your handphone, but it’s not too heavy for the strap.

On the other side, there’s a metal sheet (unremovable) that says 「涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱」 or “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu” (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi). This side can get scratched easily, and is extremely glossy, so it can get dirty quickly too. Scratches are highly visible because of its gloss. (This was the best shot I could get without the light reflecting off of it)

This is the solar panel.

Other Haruhi accessories I showed in my accessories pool include the Kyon and Yuki keychains which I have already covered here.

A flash plate costs RM9.90.

See more flash plates here.

Flash plates can be found @ Anime·Tech, Mid Valley Megamall, and most other Anime·Tech stores.

Code Geass Necklace

Alright- here come the close up of the accessories. First up are my Code Geass ones.

This has a width of 5.9cm and a height of 5cm. It’s a nice silver, and is shiny, but not glossy. The points are quite sharp, so it you shouldn’t wear this if you’re gonna be running, jumping, etc.

It comes with a leather strap without a hook, so you have to attach one yourself or tie it up. I choose to tie it up, and it works fine.

Here’s another one- same symbol, but much smaller. This one has a width of 2.2cm and a height of 2.8cm. Has a nice glossy shine, which is enough to reflect (distorted) images.

The symbol is not painted/printed, but is a depression, thus creating distorted reflections. Have worn this many times, but no signs of fading is showing and is still maintaining it’s shine. Symbol repeats on both sides. This is a very good buy.

Cost:
First Geass necklace- RM 20
Second Geass necklace- RM 15.90

Prices stated are according to what I remember, and therefore, might not be accurate.

Both of these can be found @ Anime·tech in Mid Valley Megamall.
