Suicide Attempt

Author: Chong Mizunaga
04 10th, 2008

This is yesterday’s news but..

Apparently-

There was this Chinese guy who borrowed lots of money from loan sharks, and couldn’t pay it back. So, he decides to jump out of a Genting Highland’s hotel restaurant window to his death.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, he landed on the cable car system’s safety net instead.

Several attempts to persuade him to “come down” were made, and the attempts included the use of fried chicken and cigarettes.

While suicide is nothing to be joking about, this is honestly quite ridiculous.

Do you hear/have heard of stories about jokers like these?

Read the Star’s article of this incident here.

Comments

A friend was complaining today about the little comments he received on his blog, and had written a post about it. I used to feel like that too at one time- where I was highly discouraged for not getting any comments.

But that was before I realized that I had to find ways to attract people to my blog instead of waiting around for them.

Now, I have more of a social network (I don’t believe I should be calling it a “great network” just yet), and am doing much better than before. I’ll honestly say I was tempted to give up many times, but thank goodness I didn’t, because I’m enjoying my time blogging.

Here are some blogging tips I passed on to my friend. Don’t mean to brag or anything, but just thought they might be a little helpful.

1. Link up with fellow bloggers. This brings in more visitors and increase awareness of your blog’s existence.

2. Do your friends know you have a blog? You might be putting it on your MSN messenger display name, but some people don’t notice that.

3. SEO- Search Engine Optimization. It’s helping your blog get to the first page of results of a search engine.

4. (Applies to blogspot users) Want more comments? Enable anonymous comments! Some people do not have a blogger account, but would very much like to say something- but they aren’t going to be able to do that if you don’t enable anonymous comments!

5. “Beautify” and make your blog look attractive. People don’t want to go back to a blog that looks like trash.

6. When people visit your blog (and leave a comment), return the favor and visit them! Though people might not say it out, most will expect you to do so.

7. Update regularly- establish the right image of a dedicated blogger. How often you update is going to be how often people visit you.

8. Don’t worry about whether a post is long enough or not- posting bite-sized posts is good as well. Updating only lengthy posts might drive your readers away.

9. Be sure of what you want to say in a post, and try not to drift off too often.

Hope you found those tips helpful.

Any of you felt like giving up blogging due to lack of comments before?

Wrongly Accused

Was at work today, when there was an error in some records. I was involved in the error, but was not the cause of it. I let my boss know that the error was due to something she said, and she accused me of blaming her for it. Then she asked me to help solve the problem with an aggressive tone.

She’s the one who was truly at fault, but she’s my boss, so I can’t speak against her.

Have you been in this situation before? Where you’ve been wrongly accused, but can’t do anything about it. What do you think of it?

BTW- I’m all cool about it with my boss already. I don’t mean to complain when I write about this, but just thought I’d mention.

Overlooking

Author: Chong Mizunaga

A little incident that happened a little past midnight yesterday…

My friend had passed me a DVD installation for CABAL SEA during the party, but when I got back, I discovered it was missing. I quickly searched the house, the car, retraced my steps, and even called some of my friends (sorry guys).

I couldn’t find it anywhere, and was already starting to think of ways to apologize (which I do very often).

I tried to look for it for about 30 minutes and finally decided to give up, since I was extremely tired.

Then, as I get into the bed and lie down for a few moments, I realized I had put it in a pocket in the car.

I honestly felt like slapping myself for making such a mistake.

Has anything similar happened to you? A situation where you think you’ve lost something, but it’s really very close to you.

Another example of that kind of situation would be asking around, “Where’s my eraser?” when it’s really just in your hand.

Mizunaga’s Guide to Nutrition

Author: Chong Mizunaga

Hey! Want to stay healthy, but don’t know how?

Here’s a little guide for you.

We all know about the food pyramid, right?

Oops, wrong one..

-the food pyramid! As you probably know, the food pyramid itself is a simple guide to proper nutrion and health. It’s not hard to understand at all! It clearly states the amount you should eat of each food group in simple words.

Are you thinking that what the food pyramid asks you to eat is boring? That’s it’s all stuff like oatmeals, cereal bars, wheat, and green grass? I used to think that too, but look again!

Towards the top of the food pyramid, it does say that you can get some meat and sweets to eat. Just be careful of the amount you take in! A mouthful of fries is NOT sparingly!

Of course, as the food pyramid says, you should get some fruits as well. Make sure you’re getting you’re proper fruits and not too much of ones like this!

Besides just eating right, there are some other things you should do.

This might sound hypocritical coming from me, but you shouldn’t be lazing in front of your computer the whole day! Same goes for watching TV.

Get out, and get some exercise. If you don’t have any park accessible to you, run up and down some stairs or all around your house. You’d look like an idiot, but that’s what you get for not taking the effort to find a park. Running up escalators do NOT count! Unless you’re running up the wrong side though.. Which you probably shouldn’t be doing.

If you must stay at home, open up some windows and get some fresh air. I don’t mean the windows you find here, mind you.

Too lazy to get some exercise? Well, guys, you’re gonna have to build up those muscles if you wanna please the ladies. Don’t want to be told by girls that you’re too flabby or thin for their liking, aye? Just like in this video..

And ladies, I don’t think you want to end up like this..

The guys think it’s scary. Trust me.

Now, I’m not saying that your outer look defines it all, but having a good physique does help attract members of the opposite gender.

But more than just attracting the opposite sex, eating healthily keeps you.. well, healthy. And being healthy gives you a higher chance of living longer. Not only do you get to live longer, you get to live longer and do things other old people can’t!

So, it’s a simple choice you have to make. Just take a little effort to change your diet (change it slowly if you can’t change it immediately) and get a little exercise, or keep to unhealthy ways and deteriorate faster.

The choice is yours- what do you choose?

Come on, give the delicious banana a chance. Live healthy!

BTW- if you’re already living a healthy life, good job! Here’s a cookie.

(This post is for a project of mine. Do give me your opinions about it and let me how you feel about health after reading it.)

Almost forgot about this.

It’s Women’s Day today, and I just wanna express my thanks for all the women in my life.

Thanks for all the great times, and all the great times to come. Love all of you.

Taking the Initiative

Author: Chong Mizunaga

I decided to do something different today- I walked down to the LRT station to get a drink and newspaper. I understand that this is a trivial matter to some of you, but to me who’s quite a bit of a hikikomori, this is a big step forward.

And to tell the truth, it wasn’t hard at all. Just a two (one?) minute walk down, then a walk back.
All I needed was a little initiative to get me going.

I might be making this into a habit to help me feel more comfortable with going out. And besides, I think I need the excercise (lol).
